Terrica Simmons graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Theatre and a minor in Spanish.
Her desire to become a teacher stems from time she had working with inner city youth during her undergraduate years, as well as the opportunity she had to participate in missionary work in China.
Terrica chose to be a part of the DTR program in order to receive hands-on training, while also receiving coaching from a seasoned educator (mentor teacher).
Terrica served her residency year in a 9th grade English classroom at Molina High School in Dallas Independent School District under the leadership of her mentor teacher, Ms. Davis. In addition to spending the 2015-2016 school year interning at Molina High School, Terrica successfully earned her teaching license, and also, completed her Master’s Degree in Education from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
In her personal time, Terrica enjoys dining out, thrift shopping, sight-seeing, listening to music, attending fashion shows and watching movies. Five years from now, Terrica would love to be fluent in Spanish, cultivating the minds of children, as well as mentoring new teachers.
Upon successful completion of her residency year, Terrica received and accepted a full time teaching position teaching High School English in Dallas Independent School District – where she currently teaches.
