Taylor Henry graduated from Southern Methodist University with both an undergraduate and graduate degree in engineering.
Taylor is a product of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area, attending High School in Plano. Growing up, Taylor was motivated by many of his teachers – specifically, his 11th grade teaching team, which he considers to be ‘all-around bad-asses!’
Originally, Taylor believed his career pathway would lead him into the engineering field, however became fascinated by the role education played in communities. The fact that high-quality education alone can be a catalyst for change in neighborhoods, cities, and even regions has driven Taylor to become a teacher.
During the 2016-2017 school year, Taylor will be completing his residency training at Hillcrest High School, under the guidance of his mentor teacher, Ms. Villanueva. He is eager not only to learn what life is like as a public school teacher in Dallas Independent School District, but also excited about the intense support he will receive through the Dallas Teacher Residency program (and his mentor teacher) throughout his residency year.
In his free time Taylor enjoys writing music and playing guitar.
