Kalen Lewis was born and raised in Dallas County. After graduating high school at Lakeview Centennial in Garland, TX, he attended Southern Methodist University. At SMU he received a BA in History while completing a Minor in English. During his time at SMU, Kalen worked with a variety of education venues including Upward Bound, Group Excellence, and an internship with the George W. Bush Presidential Institute Education Reform Department. He is currently engaged in a Masters of Education Program at UNT-Dallas and would like to continue onto a Ph.D program afterwards. He enjoys his career in teaching and would like to work more in Education Reform, specifically focused on Texas public education. In the far future Kalen would also like to continue publishing both educational materials and poetry.
Upon successful completion of his residency year Kalen was offered and accepted a teaching position to teach humanities at North Dallas High School in Dallas ISD, where he currently is teaching.
