Harry Nguyen graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Health Promotion.
His desire to become a teacher stemmed from the time he spent as an AmeriCorps Member with City Year Dallas. In this role, Harry spent the school year tutoring and mentoring High School students at Spruce High School in Dallas.
During his residency year Harry wanted to become more comfortable in a classroom environment and have extensive opportunities practicing leading a classroom of his own.
Harry loves to joke and talk about sports (especially soccer) – which he knows will help him build relationships with his students.
Harry spent his 2015-2016 residency year in a 3rd grade classroom at Ben Milam Elementary School in Dallas Independent School District under the guidance of his mentor teacher, Ms. Harmon. In addition to spending the 2015-2016 school year interning at Ben Milam, Harry successfully earned his teaching license, and also, completed his Master’s Degree in Education from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
Upon successful completion of his residency year, Harry received and accepted a full time teaching position teaching 3rd Grade at Ben Milam Elementary School – the same school he spent training in during his residency year! Harry is looking forward to his first full year of teaching!
