Ms. Calugay has 28 years of teaching experience. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Engineering and masters degree in Mathematics Education. She has always been a loving teacher implementing her wide math knowledge to her students selflessly and ceaselessly and as a result, has always been able to develop lasting relationships with her students.
Ms. Calugay has always taken pride in being able to teach math in a manner that relates to the students. Given this is a skill that develops over time, she has always welcomed the opportunity to mentor and coach young and aspiring teachers. Specifically, she enjoys helping young math teachers grasp savvy teaching strategies so that the students can appreciate the values of learning math and young math teachers can realize the values of teaching math skillfully.
Ms. Calugay believes being a role model in and out of classroom to the students will positively influence them in their lives. Her teaching philosophy demonstrates her faith in educating students to be an upright person is more important than teaching them to solve a math problem.
Even though she is a successful math teacher, she always sets her goal high. She would love to teach more AP classes in North Dallas High School.
