Dr. Sheryl Santos-Hatchett joined the faculty in June 2010 as professor of education and as inaugural dean of the education and human services division. A New York City native, she previously served as dean and professor in the College of Education at Texas Tech University. Before that she served at California State University in Bakersfield, Arizona State University in Tempe and at Texas A&M Commerce. She also served as a Spanish-English escort interpreter for the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. Santos- Hatchett earned a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with a bilingual specialization from Kansas State University. She earned a master’s and a bachelor’s in Spanish from Queens College in Flushing, N.Y. Her areas of expertise include bilingual education teacher preparation, multicultural education, curriculum and instruction. Her Post-doctorate fellowships include: Fulbright Scholar, New York State Board of Regents Fellow, and American Council on Education Fellow.
