Beginning this fall (2019), Dallas Teacher Residency (DTR) will expand its teacher preparation work to Fort Worth and Tarrant County. With this expansion, DTR will partner with several public school partners located throughout Tarrant County, as well as partner with Texas Wesleyan University (TWU) – which will offer graduate degree and teacher certification coursework for individuals enrolled in the program.
“This expansion into Tarrant County comes after spending several years learning about the teacher needs in the area directly from Tarrant County stakeholders,” said DTR Co-Founder and Executive Director, Elizabeth Kastiel. “Our goal is to build this program organically – just as we did in Dallas – with the community at the table from Day-1. We are excited about this opportunity and this new partnership and look forward to making sure that more students throughout Tarrant County have access to a well prepared and highly effective classroom teacher each year.”
DTR is extending its application deadline through the month of May to teacher candidates that are interested in applying to the Fort Worth Cohort. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until May 31st.
