On Monday, December 8, Dallas Teacher Residency (DTR), received a $25,000 grant on behalf of their fiscal sponsor, The Dallas Foundation. The grant, was one of three awards given to Dallas area non-profit organizations by NBC 5 and Telemundo 39, in partnership with the NBCUniversal Foundation. The $25,000 award will go towards directly supporting the training and development of pre-service teachers within the Dallas Teacher Residency program. Upon successful completion of their year-long residency experience – where residents train alongside a mentor teacher in a Dallas Independent School District school, DTR program graduates commit to teaching in the school district for a minimum of 3-years.
